Emu Plains has been settled the longest of anywhere out this way, going back to a convict farm in the early 1800s and later a village that grew up around the river crossing and the old quarry line. Most of the housing here is well established rather than new, and that’s the job I see most often in Emu Plains, it’s also where Shotskies is actually based, so this is home turf rather than just another suburb on the list.
Homes of that age are the classic switchboard case, ceramic fuses and no safety switches were completely normal when they were built, and neither is up to a modern standard now.
With the Blue Mountains right behind it, a lot of homes here also come in for general electrical safety checks and repairs rather than new-build work, ageing wiring, worn switches, that kind of thing.
Even with the escarpment close by, Emu Plains still gets the same heavy western Sydney heat as the rest of Penrith through summer. Being based right here means I can usually get to an urgent job in Emu Plains faster than anywhere else I service. I can help with the switchboard, the safety check, or getting air con sorted before the next hot spell.
