Switchboard Upgrades in Penrith & Western Sydney
Still got ceramic fuses?
Let's sort that before it becomes a problem.
If your switchboard still has the old ceramic fuses, or it trips every time the kettle and the heater are on together, it is probably due for an upgrade. I’m Steve, a licensed local electrician, and I will take a look, explain plainly what your board needs, and give you a clear written quote. No scare tactics.

What a Switchboard Upgrade Involves
Your switchboard is the heart of your home’s electrical system. It splits the power coming in and, on a modern board, cuts it off fast if something goes wrong. Older boards often have ceramic fuses and no safety switches, which means a fault can run longer than it safely should.
A switchboard upgrade usually means replacing the old board with a modern enclosure, fitting circuit breakers and safety switches (RCDs), and making sure every circuit is labelled and up to current standards. Most upgrades are done in a day. I will walk you through what your board has now, what it needs, and what it will cost before I start.
Cost depends on the size of your home and the state of the existing wiring, so I give you a written quote rather than a guess over the phone. Send me a photo of your current board and I can usually give you a rough idea before I even visit.

About Shotskies.
I’m Steve, your local electrician in Penrith. I’ve run Shotskies across Penrith and Western Sydney for ten years, and I do the work myself, so the person who quotes your job is the one who turns up to do it.
Most people don’t know much about electrical work, and there is no reason they should. I will explain what is going on in plain English, tell you what I would do in your shoes, and only recommend what you actually need. If a smaller fix will do, I will say so.

Not always. If it still has ceramic fuses or no safety switches, an upgrade is worth considering, but I will give you an honest assessment rather than push you into it.
Most are done within a day. If yours is likely to take longer, I will tell you before I start.
For part of the day, yes, while I swap the board over. I will plan it with you so it is as little disruption as possible.
It depends on your home and the existing wiring, so I give a written quote rather than a phone estimate. Send a photo of your board and I can give you a rough idea.
